Launch of eventPOD at NCT CBRNe Asia 2014

on Oct 20, 2014

Heyltex officially launched its newest product concept and CBRN countermeasure, the eventPOD, during the gala dinner of the prestigious 2014 NCT CBRNe Awards held on the 14th of October 2014 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Witnessing the launch were CBRNe defense industry leaders and decision makers of various governments, which include General Em San An, Secretary of State, Ministry of Interior of the Kingdom of Cambodia. Spearheading the launch was Alexander Heyl, the CEO of Heyltex. Because of the enormous attention they attract, high visibility events, Mr Heyl explained, increases “both the threat and the impact [of a CBRN attack].” Alas, some countries are not adequately prepared to respond to these threats because of budget and policy constraints. The eventPOD “helps you make decisions that do not increase the risk of you being less prepared,” Mr Heyl enthusiastically pitched. He then continued to highlight the benefits of the eventPod: “EventPOD is a solution for those situations in which you temporarily need extra capability – extra stuff… Instead of buying equipment or drugs, you get them from us as a service: you rent the availability, you rent the capability.” The eventPOD, Mr Heyl continued, is tailored “to the threat assessment for the event. Based on that, we agree on what capability you need on top of your existing capability.” After the launch, interested parties had an opportunity to learn more about the eventPOD at the exhibition booth and during the Event Security session organized by Heyltex. Enthusiasm about the product is high, and Heyltex feels optimistic about its market...

Frank Walter Speaking at NCT CBRNe Asia 2014

on Aug 17, 2014

Enhancing Medical Preparedness for Radiological Incidents & Terrorism by Dr. Frank Walter On the 16th of October 2014, Dr. Frank Walter, Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of Arizona College of Medicine, gave a presentation entitled “Enhancing Medical Preparedness for Radiological Incidents & Terrorism” during the 2014 NCT CBRNe Asia event held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Among his distinguished audience were CBRNe defense industry leaders, experts, and decision makers from various governments. Dr Walter, who is also the co-founder and editor of the Advanced HAZMAT Life Support (AHLS) Program, began by providing an overview of different radiation threat scenarios, as well as the potential sources of specific radioactive isotopes. Then he proceeded to explaining the important distinctions between radiation exposure and contamination, and between external and internal contamination. These important distinctions guide the process of providing medical care to those affected by a radiological incident. From these distinctions, Dr Walter proceeded to outline the treatment protocol recommended by the AHLS Program. He emphasized that “primary survey and resuscitation” always come first. It is a process made easy to remember by the mnemonics he supplied: ABCDE, standing for airway, breathing, cardiovascular, disability; and exposure with environmental control. The presentation then zeroed in on AHLS-developed protocol for the medical management of poisoned patients: the Poisoning Treatment ParadigmTM. Unraveling its steps is another ABCDE mnemonics; this time they stand for alter absorption and administer antidote, basics, change catabolism, distribute differently, and enhance elimination.   Dr Walter wrapped up his very enlightening presentation by reiterating that “specific treatment depends on specific...

Heyltex will officially launch the eventPod™ during the 2014 NCT CBRNe Awards on October 14, 2014 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. High visibility events, such as sporting events and international gatherings, attract both desirable attention and dangers of CBRN incidents. Undesirable elements, such as terrorists, are always keen to steal the spotlight of high visibility events. Compounding this danger are budget and policy constraints, which render events’ hosts inadequately prepared to respond to CBRNe threats. The eventPod™ is Heyltex’s innovative, economic, and flexible solution that boosts the existing capability of hosts of high visibility events in responding to CBRN...
